Tonight was a fun night. We had a surprise birthday party for a friend. Her birthday isn’t until next Sunday, but its a lot easier to surprise somebody when their birthday is still a week away. As she walked up to the door, we flung them open, cake in hand, and started singing “Happy Birthday”. She was genuinely surprised.

Its sad that I will be saying goodbye to all these friends in a month’s time. I made a lot of great friends here. But one thing you learn by living abroad is how to say hello and goodbye. Some friends have already said goodbye as they continue on their journey, and some I will have to say goodbye to as I continue on mine. People are constantly shifting, moving here and there. Some are around for a few months, some a few years. But no matter how long, they’ll be shifting again soon enough. With every hello there will be a goodbye, but with every goodbye there will always be the next hello. Its the next hello that keeps you going.
