I snapped this picture yesterday as I was heading downtown. A group of young students were marching through Kathmandu peacefully protesting the violence in their country. It was nothing political, they were not promoting a certain agenda, they were simply asking for a stop to the violence that is plaguing their country.
Over the past weekend, hundreds were hurt throughout the country in riots; clashes between people with differing political views. They could not see past each other’s ideas, and failed to see that they were each other’s brothers and sisters. Unfortunately this is all too common in Nepal these days, as it has been for the past 15 years.
And this sign can be found in cities all around the world. Kathmandu, Tehran, Cincinnati. The creator of the sign had it right. Simply put, no more violence.
But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Luke 6:35-36

such a simple idea … so impossible in a fallen world.
