You reach a point when you’ve been somewhere long enough when what once was new and different becomes normal. When I first came here I was posting a new blog entry almost every day. Now its every couple of days. Things just become normal. I was encouraged by a friend when I arrived to keep my camera with me always. Take a lot of pictures, because in a few months time you won’t notice things anymore. So I always kept my camera with me, and 5000 pictures later I still keep it with me. But I don’t use it much anymore.
The past two weeks, however, haven’t been very “normal”. Its a long and involved story on what is happening in Nepal, and I won’t get into all of it (although I encourage you to look into it). Suffice it to say, things are very unsettled in Nepal. They are in the process of forming their 18th or 19th government since 1990 after the Prime Minister resigned last week after a row with the Chief of Army Staff and the President. There have been many demonstrations and riots that have stemmed from this. Demonstrations and riots are nothing new to Nepal (my class is continually canceled for these reasons), but this time these demonstrations and riots could lead to worse. I’m not worried about my own safety, but I am worried about the safety of the people of Nepal. You never know in Nepal, though. Tomorrow we could find today forgotten, or we could find ourselves in an even more “unsettled” environment. Until we find today forgotten, pray that a new government can be formed soon and things can get back to normal (relatively speaking). Pray for peace in Nepal.
Here are a few links to news sources about Nepal:

There is no place too small or insignificant for God’s notice and care. May a desire for peace motivate the decisions made by Nepali leaders in these days and weeks. And may he continue to keep you and whisper in your ear just where he wants you to be. God bless you!
Be careful. You have a story to live, … and tell later.
