It’s That Time of Year!

Baseball! Tomorrow the season begins at 1:10. The Reds take on Santana and the Mets. Its gonna be good. Unfortunately I won’t be there. I had tickets last year, but I ended up in Guatemala instead. It was a fair trade.
Baseball was even spoken about today in church. The minister spoke of Jesus “stepping up to the plate” when He went to Jerusalem, walking to His death (AND RESURRECTION!). A Scottish minister in Kathmandu using baseball as an Easter illustration. Does it get any better? I first wondered if anyone in the church understood the expression (seeing that Americans are the definite minority in the church surrounded by a world of soccer, cricket, and rugby), but the minister went on to explain it; even though he called the pitcher a “bowler” a few times, and started off by saying “when the basketball player steps up to the plate”. He then quickly corrected himself to a few American laughs.
Thankfully I’ll have power tomorrow night to follow the game on the internet. It might keep me up until 2 AM, but who cares? Its Opening Day in Cincinnati!

PS. I should be home in time for Game 7 of the World Series when the Reds win it all this year. Save me a seat!
